Entity Types
Choose the most specific type that matches how the entity will be used in the Codex. Labels are not decoration. They decide how the editor, map, relations, images, and play runtime treat the record.
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Character | A named being with agency that can speak, plan, and act in the story. |
| Region | A large territory, domain, empire, biome, continent, or broad zone. |

| Ability | A reusable power, skill, spell, blessing, curse, or technique. |
| Event | A defined moment in time with lasting consequences. |

| Fact | A canonical truth, law of nature, or accepted historical record. |
| Lore | Concrete supporting knowledge that does not fit a stricter type. |
Common choices
Character or Creature
Use Character when the being has personality, dialogue, goals, and meaningful choices. Use Creature for monsters, animals, and semi-sapient threats driven mainly by behavior or ecology.
Item or Object
Use Item when power, ownership, or quest progress depends on it. Use Object for ordinary scene props that still need a stable identity.
Region or Location
Use Region for broad territory. Use Location for a site small and concrete enough to host a scene.
Myth or Fact
Use Myth for culturally important belief that may be incomplete or false. Use Fact when agents should treat the information as reliable canonical truth.
Lore or a specific label
Use Lore only when Character, Race, Faction, Myth, Fact, Event, or another defined label is not a better fit.
